EastEnders

episode originally aired on Thursday 22nd February 2007

Max and Stacey had snook off into the toilets for a tryst at the end of the last episode, Tanya enters the toilets and unfortunately for the cheating lovers the other cubicles are out of order. Tanya calls out asking if anyone is in the cubicle, could Max and Stacey be caught out?

Scene 1: Queen Vic

Sean is still sat in the lounge area of the pub, he is playing with a beer mat and looking very bored.

Scene 2: Queen Vic Toilets

Stacey and Max are still in the cubicle, with Tanya still in the toilet unaware Max is there! Tanya and Stacey are talking about the fact that Max didn't do anything special for her birthday such as take her out for a meal. Sean enters the toilet looking for Stacey to tell her he had decided to go home. Tanya tells him to get out, but when he spots Tanya in the toilets he says he is not so sure about going home anymore.

"Why don't I hang around here and we can have our own little party" (Sean to Tanya, while Stacey and Max listen on in the cubicle)

Sean then goes up to the cubicle door and asks Stacey if she can lend him a tenner so he can then buy Tanya a drink. This part of the scene is very comical! To begin with, Sean shows no shame in having to borrow money off his little sister to buy a woman he really fancies and wants to impress a drink, while she is standing there right in front of him. Then when Sean persists to borrow the money, Max takes a tenner out of his wallet reluctantly and gives it to Sean just to get rid of him! It's obvious that even though Max is having an affair with Stacey, he doesn't like the thought of Sean getting close to Tanya and this is why he was so reluctant to hand money to a guy who is lusting after his wife.

Tanya tells Sean she doesn't want a drink and leaves the toilet, with Sean following her. For now it seems Max and Stacey are still a secret.

"Tanya, what is your problem? I'm not asking for a birthday kiss or nothing am I" (Sean to Tanya when she refuses his offer of a drink)

Scene 3: Queen Vic Bar

Sean is standing at the bar with Tanya flirting with her, when Max approaches them. Sean tells Max that he found Tanya all alone at the bar with nobody to celebrate her birthday with. "Lucky for you I was able to keep an eye on her for you" (Sean to Max) Sean wishes Tanya a happy birthday and then leaves, sitting back down on the lounge seats.

Scene 4: Queen Vic

Sean and Stacey are sat down on the lounge seats again and Sean says "Just imagine being stuck with that all night, no wonder she was so bored" Sean says this in a very jealous tone as he obviously wishes he was the one with Tanya celebrating her birthday.

Scene 5: Queen Vic Bar

After Shirley suggests Max should buy everyone a drink to help celebrate Tanya's birthday, with Tanya agreeing Stacey gets up and agrees to accept a drink, ordering a vodka. Sean then gets up and says he will have the same as Stacey. However Max is having non of it and says that if Sean wants another drink he can buy his own.

Max doesn't like Sean, especially because of all the flirting he had been doing with his wife. Here Max is showing how much he doesn't like Sean in front of both Tanya and Stacey making his feelings perfectly clear.

Max asks Sean if he has a problem and wants to make anything of it, with Sean replying "If I did, trust me, you wouldn't even know about it" Shirley gets in between them to stop any sort of trouble happening and tells Sean that it's up to Max who he buys drinks for. Sean decides to leave, asking Stacey to come with him, but Tanya (slightly drunk) makes her stay for another drink.

I think Sean feels a bit deflated here, especially given the tone of his voice as leaves and says "Fine" to Stacey when she says she will catch him later. It's obvious he feels this way after being the one to back down. Perhaps in way, Sean is the better man for not entering into a fight with Max?
